Smokey Eyes

smokey eyes is one of the easiest yet hottest make up look anyone can do. there are so so so many different ways of doing a smokey eye. traditionally people automatically think a smokey eye means dark colours such as blacks, charcoals, deep greys etc... however it looks so amazing in a variety of colours, from pastels of purple , greens , and blues to the more classical  maroons, violets, chocolate brown and navy blues. pretty much any colour will work for a smokey eye look depending on your eye colour. i absolutely loved the pastel purple smokey eyes at versace.

The main theory behind a smokey eye is that the most pigmentation of colour should be concentrated towards the rim of the eye then slowly fading up and out until it completely fades away ... there are many variations of this its all about what kind of smokey look your going for and the shape of your eyes.

The tools used for a smokey eye are very simple... i think its easiest look to achieve and can be very quick if your just going for a simple smokey eye.  all you will need is a black eye pencil, a smudge brush. and mascara. however its fun to use more products and if you have the time why not... but you will only probably need only 1 to 2 eye shadows at the most to achieve this look.

The first and easiest look to create is this simple smokey eye, you will only need a black eye pencil for this look and either a Qtip or a smudge brush to blend it out.

this look is perfect for when you don't really have alot of time to do your make up and you still want it to look sultry and sexy. this look would look even better if you applied a tiny tiny bit of eye gloss over the black liner once you have rimmed your eyes, it would just add to the whole worn in sexy smokey eye effect and it would look SO gorgeous if you don't have eye gloss, you could use Vaseline but remember only a tiny amount will go along way. you don't want it to look to greasy...........

so for this effortless smokey eye all you need is eyeliner and a smudge brush ( this is a mac 214) or you could even use a Qtip.

for a more dramatic look i would advise using a base to ensure the shadow stayes on well and that it doesn't fade or crease throughout the day. and if your using alot of black, i would recommend doing your base last, so that any fall out from the shadow won't ruin your perfect base. of course with a smokey eye always remember the lightest shade of the colour to go in the inside corner of your eye, and the darkest colour should be on the outside blending into your natural eye shape crease. obviously this can be tailored to suit your style and choice.
here's a lighter smokey eye look with a beige matt and a black, the key here is blending... i love to combine these too colors to create cute, hot eyes but its not to full on... so definitely works for the daytime.
want dramatic, check out the eyes at Dsquared, flicked out, smoked out with extra glitter.. and to top it of a bold glossy red lip, talk about breaking the rules... but they definitely know how to rock it, i love it

so as much as a nude lip would be the typical accessory for a smokey eye the make up at Dsquared just goes to show that you should be creative and don't stick to rules, of course this depends on the occasion and situation ...  but if you want to try something completely new and out there . then .. why not.
